Pre-Owned Bottega Veneta Belts | Intrecciato | JoliCloset

Founded in Vicenza in 1966, Bottega Veneta invented a no-logo luxury whose belts are one of the purest expressions: a hand-woven Intrecciato in nappa calfskin strips, a solid brass or brushed-steel buckle, and nothing else. Discretion — "when your own initials are enough" — replaces the monogram. Our belt selection sits inside a 4,500-piece authenticated Bottega catalogue, priced from $25 to $7,400.

The icons

The Intrecciato belt comes in three historical widths: 20 mm for the waist, 30 mm as a go-anywhere, and 40 mm on men's pieces. The Knot belt carries over the signature knot from Tomas Maier's Knot minaudières. Since Matthieu Blazy took over in 2021, the Triangle buckle — the strong signature of the current era — has defined the smooth-leather Andiamo lineup. Earlier pieces by Tomas Maier (2001-2018) still hold firm on the secondary market.

Leathers and finishing

Bottega works three main hides: nappa calfskin (supple, most often woven), smooth vitello (Triangle buckle, Andiamo styles) and grained calf for men's editions. The weave itself is the quality tell: every strip should be even, tight, with no visible gaps. When buying pre-owned, inspect tucked ends and keepers — that's where fatigue shows first.

Price and pre-owned value

At retail, Bottega belts range from $500 to $1,000 depending on width and leather. On the secondary market, a well-kept classic Intrecciato trades around $200-400 — roughly 55% less than a new piece. Blazy-era Triangle buckles and Knot editions hold price more firmly, carried by current demand.

Authenticating a Bottega belt

Our experts check the Authentica plate on post-2021 pieces, the "Bottega Veneta Made in Italy" heat stamp on the reverse, the regularity of the Intrecciato, the serial strike and the weight of the buckle (solid brass, not hollow). No visible external logo — if you see one, the piece isn't authentic.
