What to check pre-owned

Inspect the handles first, then the base corners, then the interior lining. Suede totes show the most wear at the shoulder-facing surface of the handles, where the nap flattens. Base corners on a slouch tote often darken from floor contact. Woven leather can loosen at the top rim if the bag has been overloaded. Marant totes rarely carry heat-stamps inside, but the lining label and the suede nap quality are enough to authenticate.
