Saint Laurent Clutches

The Saint Laurent clutch is the house's evening signature since the Slimane era: 235 pre-owned pieces on JoliCloset, from velvet clutches embroidered YSL to XL envelope pouches in grained calf. Anthony Vaccarello pushed the format toward daytime — oversized pouches carried under the arm — that now rival the classic handbag.

Models and formats

The Cassandre clutch (front flap with metal YSL monogram) is the most recognisable piece, launched in 2017. The Loulou Toy clutch carries the Y-quilting with a slim chain, equally at home as a clutch or crossbody. Envelope pouches (West Hollywood, Sade) play the minimalist card — grained calf, side zip, A4 format. Evening editions in velvet, satin or metallic embroidery appear every fashion-week season.

Materials and Saint Laurent codes

The grained calf and goatskin dominate day-to-night clutches. Black suede remains a classic for evening versions. Velvet and logo-embroidered silk show up in capsule collections. Closure is usually a side zip; some clutches add a removable strap for crossbody use.

A new Cassandre clutch starts at $750 in boutique; on the secondhand market it lands between $300 and $500. Envelope pouches in grained calf trade between $230 and $400. Embroidered evening or exotic-skin versions stay above $550.
