Hermès: Beautiful and rare silk collection square, titled "Imperial Collections"
Drawing by Catherine Baschet 2015 /2016
Produced in collaboration with the Museum of Decorative Arts, this square is inspired by cloisonné Chinese Ming and Qing times. They belong for the most part to the museum archives. 19th century France shows a strong taste for Chinese art and important private collections are born. In 1923, the banker David David-Weill, amateur of the first hour, donates more than one hundred and fifty cloisonné from the Ming Era (1368 - 1644) and Qing (1644 - 1912), the last two imperial dynasties. Baroness Salomon de Rothschild, will also enrich the museum with his donation. The so-called cloisonné technique consists in creating patterns thanks to thin metal strips placed on the field, thus forming networks that will be filled by enamel. Floral and geometric motifs from which the horse springs, highly symbolic Chinese animal, often associated with the dragon. The extreme refinement of this composition pays tribute to the subtlety of this art. A perfectly mixed and versatile square that can be a great gift. the composition tag has been removed. Sorry, but I inform you that it is on the site, jokers who have fun making indecent and recurrent proposals. Thank you for not being interested in my ads.
