Superb square Hermes titled "Music of the Gods", created by Claudia Stuhlhofer-Mayr in 1996. Unique edition. New, never worn.
Apollo son of Zeus and Leto, twin brother of Artemis is the god of light, harmony and oracle, he is also the god of medicine, of purification, dance, some poetry, arts and sciences, god of eternal youth... And music. The other gods loved him, but they were a little scared! No question of a party without him on Olympus. When he went up to the palace of Zeus with his companions the Muses, all the gods welcomed him with great joy. So, Apollo took his zither and the palace sounded songs of the gods, while the goddesses led the dance. His music had such power that even the terrible Ares, God of the war, was calmed when he heard his zither, while the fearsome lightning of Zeus. And yes ! Gods love music! Nymphs as for them, were little deities who lived in the mountains, in the woods, in marshes or rivers. One of them, the beautiful Syrinx, had this misfortune that a god fell in love with her. But what a god! Generous, happy, laughing, but ugly, with goats feet, the body covered with hair, Horns and ears in tip! He was the god of the woods, the god Pan, that all the other gods liked a lot, but the goddesses avoided because of its ugliness. Syrinx tried to escape him, but Pan chased her. Running to save himself, she begged Zeus to help him, and Zeus turned it into reeds. Pan was very angry and put the reeds in pieces. But he quickly realized that these reeds were the body of his beloved. Inconsolable, he started crying and moaning. He picked up the pieces carefully, tied them together, and made a flute that he named Syrinx because of his name, and we call Pan Flute because of his name. We can see in the center Pan playing the flute but also the silhouette of the beautiful Syrinx, while instruments are represented at the four angles: at the top / left corner, the lyre or "zither of Apollo"; at the top / right angle, a percussion instrument, Kymbala; at the bottom left corner the "Zither of the orpheus" with the serpents wrapped around the caduceus reminding us that Apollo is the god of medicine; at the bottom / right corner the Syrinx called "Pan flute". Of course, the gods are dancing, presented here on an elegant coral background. The faunas, the nymphs, the satyrs, the centaurs and the god Hermes himself, make a frieze to frame this primitive drama of sexual harassment or a love story?...
Mixed and versatile, it can be the subject of a superb gift. Composition tag is removed
