"The Wheels of Phaethon"
Designate: Pierre Marie
cashmere and silk
History of drawing :
The Phaeton, from the name of the Threads of the sun in Greco-Latin mythology, is a horse-drawn vehicle which experienced its golden age at the end of the 18th century in France and England. Very light and handy, it allowed its driver to move around town easily.. Designer Pierre Marie puts the back of the model kept in the Émile Hermès collection into perspective here., its high wheels and its delicate painted decoration. All around the square, framed by harmonious curves, the palmettes motif reproduces that of the rug in Émile Hermès' office, where the precious hitch is on display.
