Superb shawl / square Hermès titrated "Carpets Persans", created by Pierre-Marie in 2014.
The history of the Persian carpets dates back several thousand years, it begins, no doubt, with the nomadic tribes of the steppes of Central Asia. These knotted carpets were intended to protect them from the cold and served as partitions in the tents. The oldest carpet that reaches us, the famous Pazyryk carpet of Altai (4th century BC), already testifies to the aesthetic concern of its creators. The secrets of their manufacture have been transmitted from generation to generation. Each design designates its geographical origin. As early as the 13th century, Europe loved it. They become table mats, chests, wall hangings. Some models will be named after the painters who take them as models, so called Lotto carpets (Lorenzo Lotto, 1480-1556), carpet of wool with red background and decor of acute arabesques. The center of this square is a fine example, inspired by a carpet of prayer from the north of India. It was the Mughal Empire which brought in Persian influence in India, especially in the form of a naturalism of great finesse. Many decorations add to this, making this square sumptuous evocation of the refinement and the diversity of these ornamentations. The draftsman was inspired by these carpets but also the beautiful Indian archives of the Museum of Printing on Fabrics Mulhouse.
A pure marvel! Much more beautiful in reality than in photos!
