Plate in Gien porcelain with Peonies decor, hand painted and signed (with the painter's initials). In its hand painted version this opulent peony, borrowed from the Orient, is one of the essential motifs of the Faience manufacture in Gien. Since the 19th century, this floral motif has crossed fashion to become iconic. The Peonies decor created in 1875 is entirely hand painted and quickly became the emblem of Gien, of its know-how and its tradition with each piece signed by the painter.
