Hermès Les Berlines in Blue and Yellow Navy blue

£188

Hermès has long maintained privileged links with the National Automobile and Tourism Museum of Compiègne Fr.
Dating from the early 18th century, the Fanalone shown in this drawing is one of the pieces that characterize the preserved historic car. This inspired F. de la Perrière in 1972 to draw the Carré.
in 1808, forced to leave Madrid, King Ferdinand VII and his entourage used this sturdy vehicle, used during this impromptu departure and preferred to the fragile modern ceremony cars of the time.
Prince de Talleyrand, their guest at the castle of Valançay, surprised by its "completely gothic" appearance, observes in her writings: "This dilapidated form had something of the dilapidation of the very existence of the French monarchist". But the story does not end here. Abandoned in the castle after the departure of the Spanish ruler, it was only at the beginning of the 20th century that it attracted the attention of an antiquarian, later owner of a garage. Reviewed and considered too expensive, in 1936, by the directors of the company of friends of the car museum - including Mr.. Hermès --, they bought it in 1951 from national museums.
