Hermès Silk scarf Multiple colors
Superb square Hermès titled "Officer's Saddle in Great Attire"
Drawn by Wlodek Kaminski 2017
This daring composition combines traditional motifs from Kyrgyzstan, a mountainous country in Central Asia, with the spotted robe of an Appaloosa, a horse bred for centuries by the Native American tribe of Nez Perce in the northwestern United States. The patterns on which the silhouette of the animal stands out are inspired by shyrdaks, felt carpets made by Kyrgyz women according to ancestral techniques transmitted from mother to daughter. Warm, insulating solids, indispensable and beautiful, they constitute one of the riches of the nomadic life. Illustrator Alice Shirley has worked to reproduce faithfully these witnesses of a poorly known culture.
