Pre-owned Bottega Veneta Men's Bags | JoliCloset
The Bottega Veneta man dresses quietly. Founded in 1966 in Vicenza, the Venetian house built its identity on one idea — "Quando le vostre iniziali bastano", when your own initials are enough — and one technique: Intrecciato, the hand-woven leather weave that takes more than a full day of work per bag. Our pre-owned men's catalogue now holds 362 pieces, from €240 to €7,202, with an average ticket of €1,059. Enough to dress a wardrobe without a logo.
The intrecciato lineage, from Vicenza to Matthieu Blazy
Before Daniel Lee (2018-2021) and Matthieu Blazy (2021-2025), intrecciato meant narrow strips of soft nappa calf — quiet luxury for the in-the-know. Lee rewrote the codex with oversized strips and saturated drops; Blazy then pushed the technique further with the Sardine and a reworked Andiamo. On the men's floor, that grammar reads across Intrecciato briefcases, structured totes and soft flat messengers — the core of this selection.
Signature men's silhouettes
Four shapes dominate our Bottega men's bags & briefcases section (187 pieces). The Andiamo Messenger, cut from glossy intrecciato calfskin and closed by a silver-tone knot, is the definitive Bottega messenger: sized for a laptop, adjustable strap, compartmented interior. The Cassette for men translates Daniel Lee's padded signature into a crossbody silhouette. The Intrecciato Tote, quieter than the women's Arco, anchors the business side. The Hidrology and the flat saddlebags round out the editorial lineup. On the accessories side: 164 wallets and small leather goods, including the continental wallet, card holder and zip pouch staples.
Leathers, hardware, dating cues
The house spine is nappa calf, supple and lustrous, tailored to weekday suiting. Pebbled calf brings grip and grain for weekend messengers and totes. Blazy also introduced calfskin treated to read as fabric, and smooth full-grain on the 2024-2025 pieces. In terms of hardware, the brushed-silver knot on the Andiamo, patinated brass on pre-2018 bags and polished palladium on more recent drops all help date a piece. Further afield in our range: men's saddlebags (6 pieces) and the misc category (5 pieces) round out the main shapes.
Retail pricing and the secondhand discount
A new Andiamo Messenger sits around $4,500 at retail, roughly €4,200. On JoliCloset it trades from €1,800 to €2,900 depending on condition, a 30 to 55% discount. New Intrecciato continental wallets are priced near €650; ours run from €240 to €420. Rigid briefcases — the rarer pieces — climb to €7,202 at the top end for high-capacity or exotic intrecciato collector editions. Across the category, the €1,059 average is anchored by business bags and day pouches.
Authenticating Bottega Veneta men's bags
Our team starts with weave regularity — the most decisive marker. A counterfeit intrecciato floats, pulls, or leaves stitching visible on the underside; a real one keeps strip width and depth perfectly consistent across the body. Next: the heat-stamped "Bottega Veneta Made in Italy" on the inner leather tab, the six-digit serial, the authenticity card, and, on post-2021 pieces, the metal "Authentica" plate. Zippers must read Lampo or Riri; the edges are saddle-stitched by hand. We cross-reference those markers against production year and collection before clearing the bag.
