Pre-Owned Fendi Baguette Bag | JoliCloset

Designed in 1997 by Silvia Venturini Fendi, the Baguette was the first bag to enter fashion history as the “It bag”. It tucks under the arm — like a French baguette — and closes with a magnetic double-F clasp. Carrie Bradshaw turned it into a global phenomenon on Sex and the City. JoliCloset lists 390 authenticated pre-owned Fendi Baguette bags, from vintage sequinned editions to the contemporary Mini.

Sizes and variants

The Mini Baguette (19 cm) is carried by hand or on a chain. The Medium (26 cm) is the 1997 original. The Mama Baguette (33 cm) takes A5 documents. The Chain version, re-launched in 2019, hangs on a gold chain. The bag exists in smooth leather, patent, sequins, beaded embroidery, fur and Zucca FF canvas.

Materials and collector editions

The Baguette is as collected as it is worn. The sequinned editions Lagerfeld designed in the 2000s now command high vintage premiums. The Selleria hand-stitched leather versions are more structured and keep their shape. FF canvas stays the entry point — from $600 on the second-hand market — but the earliest production has also appreciated.

Buying a pre-owned Baguette: price and value

A new Baguette starts at $2,790 in boutique for a Medium in nappa leather. Second-hand, you can find FF canvas pieces from $600, simple leather from $1,200, and limited editions at $2,000 and up. Discontinued usually means scarcity: 2000s Baguettes (sequins, Lagerfeld embroidery, beadwork) are among the Fendi pieces that have appreciated most.

Authenticating the Baguette

Our experts check: perfectly aligned FF motif (never cut on the seams), the engraving of the magnetic F clasp (fine, not blocky font), the inner “Fendi Roma” leather plaque and the embossed serial number. Want to sell your Fendi Baguette? List it online — we authenticate before publication.
