Hermes: sublime square titled "The Italian Comedy"
Signed Philippe Ledoux.
Italian comedy, better known in Italy as "commedia dell'arte". It appeared in the sixteenth century: it is rooted in the festivals of laughter that are the basis of great carnivals. This genre appeared with the first comedy troupes with masks, EN 1528.
Commedia dell'arte is a genre of popular theater where masked actors improvise comedies marked by naivety, trickery and ingenuity. The performances first took place on trestles. The comic was mainly gestural (tomfoolery). As for comic types, there are major types with their varieties of deceitful (like Scapin) or fools, intriguers or cowards, lovers (Pierrot) , and finally the following, (like Colombine, who sometimes appears as a girl from a good family).
In a "theatrical setting" whose margin is "mink color", mid-green bronze / half-green anise curtains on ivory damask mandolins background, actors are represented with their names on matte green anise cartridges. The postures are edifying and declined in soft colors, from pale pink to parma, going through yellow and gold, the green, the "mink" clear and darker...
Beautifully rich in details, we do not want to stop photographing it!
