Madrid, late 1990s — the city’s rhythm set by the hum of taxis along Gran Vía,
Loewe’s workshop crafting leather goods with meticulous care. The exterior
of this bifold wallet is marked only by the house’s interlocking “L” anagram,
discreetly embossed in matching black—a signature designed in 1970 by Vicente
Vela, here pressed into textured leather with a subtle sheen.
A gold-tone snap secures the front flap, which opens to a dark brown fabric lining
featuring six card slots and a zippered pocket for coins. The hardware is
unengraved, its finish catching the light against the black grain. There is no visible
label inside; the only identifier is the serial number stamped on the inner
edge.
This piece bridges the gap between the late Narciso Rodriguez era and the early José
Enrique Oña Selfa era at Loewe—a period defined by a focus on material refinement
rather than overt branding. Light corner wear attests to careful handling. No
accessories included.
