The Gucci scarf has its own genealogy: in 1966 Rodolfo Gucci commissioned Vittorio Accornero to design a botanical print for a silk square gifted to Grace of Monaco. That is the birth of Flora, reissued ever since. JoliCloset lists more than 200 pre-owned Gucci scarves, from vintage Flora squares to the more recent monogrammed wool and silk wraps.
Prints and formats to know
The 90 × 90 cm silk twill square is the historical format. The Flora print exists in dozens of seasonal variants (black, ivory, pink, cobalt blue grounds). Alongside, you'll find the Horsebit print, the classic GG Supreme monogram, the Web stripe (green-red-green) and rarer Tom Ford animal motifs. The dedicated Gucci silk scarves sub-edit (51 pieces) gathers the sharpest selection, while this broader category also covers stoles, wool scarves and rectangular formats.
Materials and care
100% silk twill is the base: 12-14 momme weight, hand-rolled hems. Wool-and-silk or cashmere stoles (70 × 200 cm) are common. On second hand, check fold marks, possible water rings and the woven "Gucci" signature — on vintage pieces, it's sometimes discreet in a corner. Pair with Gucci belts or sunglasses to complete a look.
Resale value
A new Gucci silk square retails around €470-590 in boutique. On JoliCloset, well-kept squares trade between €150 and €280. Vintage Floras signed by Accornero, or limited editions (collaborations, blue grounds, original V. Accornero drawings) can exceed €450 for the most-collected pieces. Wool-silk scarves start at €80-120. Highly seasonal prints (Halloween, Mickey, Disney capsules) keep a strong collector's premium.
Authenticating a scarf
Checks: a woven "Gucci" + composition + made in Italy label in a corner, a hand-rolled hem (never overlocked), a fine and tight weave, "V. Accornero" signature or date on original Floras, and motif alignment at the corners. Every scarf on JoliCloset has been reviewed by our authentication team. Selling a vintage Flora in great shape? List it: demand is steady, especially on light-ground prints.
