Are there holes and/or pulled threads?

Hello, This scarf is 82 years old! Much older than you and me, I suppose! Of course, this scarf cannot be like new. It is not torn, as happens with these old scarves, but has traces, either of perfume or otherwise. I didn't dare entrust it to the cleaners and prefer that the buyer gives it himself. On the other hand, it has no discoloration spots which often "bleed" with these dyes used at the time. It is the must-have scarf par excellence, but I repeat, it cannot look like a new scarf. Good day to you ! Greetings

Dear Rita, I can understand your statement, but it is a bit risky to spend a lot of money on an old foulard, without knowing the condition. Even if I make you a 70% offer of 540 euro (the asking price), it still is a gamble of 378 euro (excluding shipment). Could you consider a lower offer? Kind regards...

No, sorry, I can't. It is a highly sought-after scarf and I can say that it is more intended for collectors who are familiar with the problem of old scarves. Anyone who is not a collector should actually refrain from buying such old scarves. Some, in much worse condition, sold for more. At the price you offer me, they are sold torn and even sewn, discolored... Sorry for not being able to please you. Greetings

Dear Rita, as a collector I know that there are many of these foulards for sale, if you know where to search ........ and they are in price ranges of 300 to 1500 euro, with the price depending on condition, first edition or not (yes, there are re-issues), type of silk used (yes, there are multiple types of silk) and so on. On average, 400 euro for this type of scarf with issues is a reasonable starting point ........ the problem is only that the available ones at this moment are all in lesser condition : they tend to be the same items that go from auction to auction, from platform to platform. I can only say that I am going to prefer to pass on this foulard and pay more for another Tapisserie de Bayeux....... Kind regards....

Yes, that's fine. I'm glad you know about the problem of very old scarves and the re-edition of some of them. Very few though. So you know that this model has never been reissued and that given its good condition despite its great age, its price is not usurped. But if you think you can find it cheaper in the same condition and above all without discolorations (which is the most common in this model), I wish you good luck. Greeting
