Styles to know

The Marmont slide in chevron-quilted leather, capped with the gold GG buckle, is the archetypal Gucci summer — produced flat, on a 5 cm heel and on a platform. The Horsebit slide brings the metal bit onto a flat mule. Strappy braided-leather styles (Holly type), Web-ribbon sandals and the crystal-heel pumps of the Alessandro Michele era round out the offer. Materials and sizing

Smooth calfskin, chevron-quilted leather (Marmont signature), suede, woven raffia and GG Supreme canvas for canvas-leather styles. Sizes run EU 35 to 41, with occasional 34, 42 and 43. The Marmont's chevron quilting softens with wear; watch the GG buckle's corners for tarnish on heavily worn pairs. Leather outsoles should still be intact on lightly worn pairs.

Resale value

A new Marmont slide retails around €590 in boutique. On JoliCloset, well-kept pairs trade between €220 and €380 — 35-55% below retail. Strappy braided-leather sandals start at €150 for vintage pieces, up to €450 for limited editions. Raffia or cork-platform styles, more seasonal, sit between €180 and €320. Horsebit slides in black leather hold value particularly well.

Checks: a clean "Gucci Made in Italy" insole hot-stamp, a six-digit style code plus size, a GG buckle engraved with a fine line, Marmont straps with even stitching and a perfectly aligned chevron quilt.
