Launched in 2018 by Alessandro Michele, the Gucci Rhyton takes its name from an ancient Greek drinking vase — a direct nod to the neo-classical imagery dear to the creative director at the time. With its oversized dad sole, distressed patinated leather upper and the red vintage "Gucci" script, it opened the door to luxury's chunky-sneaker wave. The most-distributed version is off-white leather with the red vintage "Gucci" script. Materials, fit and care

Smooth patinated calfskin upper, embossed-monogram leather, GG Supreme canvas or logo satin. Leather lining, leather insole hot-stamped "Gucci Made in Italy". Fit generally runs slightly large: take your usual EU size. The leather patina is intentional (cream tone, uniform spots) — a too-pure white means either a very recent piece or a copy. The dad sole should show an irregular grain and a natural cream tone.

Resale value

The Rhyton retails around €790-890 new in boutique depending on the version. On JoliCloset, well-kept pairs trade between €280 and €480 — 40-65% below retail. Off-white leather versions are the most common; print-led editions (Mickey, strawberries, Disney capsules) hold a stronger price, around €480-650.
