The Louboutin Pigalle entered the line in Fall/Winter 2004 and takes its name from the Parisian neighbourhood where Christian Louboutin opened his first boutique in 1991. It is the founding silhouette of the house: pronounced pointed toe, fluid line and the red lacquered sole — registered as the maison's trademark. Pigalle 85, 100, 120 and Pigalle Follies

The Pigalle exists in three main heights: 85 mm for daily wear, 100 mm in the classic reading and 120 mm in the most dramatic version. In 2014, the house launched the Pigalle Follies with a thinner sole and a slightly elongated point — recognisable by its lighter, more streamlined line. On the secondary market the platform-soled Pigalle Plato remains a collector favourite.

Signature materials and finishes

The Pigalle comes in the house's iconic materials: black patent leather (the staple), nude kid calfskin (every skin tone), suede, prints (leopard, python), glitter and Loubi Strass crystal capsules. Manufacturing remains artisanal — a Parisian craftsman takes roughly a week to assemble a single pair, from pattern-cutting and leather-cutting to saddle-stitch and shaping by hand.
