Hermès has produced watches since 1928 through its Swiss manufacture La Montre Hermès in Biel, building a men's horology line around four design icons: the asymmetric Arceau (Henri d'Origny, 1978), the square-in-rectangle Cape Cod with its double-loop anchor-chain strap (d'Origny, 1991), the square H-case Heure H (Jean-Marc Boulé, 1996) and the calligraphic Slim d'Hermès (2015). Mid-range Hermès men's watches run on ETA or Sellita-based calibres reworked by La Montre Hermès; the top tier uses Vaucher Manufacture automatics (Hermès owns a stake in Vaucher) and the in-house H1837 and H1912 calibres. Cases come in steel, rose gold, yellow gold and titanium depending on the reference; straps are typically Barenia, alligator Mississippiensis or Swift calf — always cut in Hermès ateliers and stitched by hand. Our specialists verify the movement (visible caliber mark, finishing, rotor signature), the case-back engraving with serial and the production year letter (a blind stamp identical in logic to the Hermès bag stamp), the hallmarks on gold models, and the strap — leather type, cut, saddle-stitch tension and matching case metal. We examine the dial print quality, the depth of the applied indexes and the crown Hermès calligraphy.
