Pre-Owned Hermès Watches: Arceau, Cape Cod, Heure H | JoliCloset

Hermès has produced watches since 1928 through its Swiss manufacture La Montre Hermès in Biel, building a men's horology line around four design icons: the asymmetric Arceau (Henri d'Origny, 1978), the square-in-rectangle Cape Cod with its double-loop anchor-chain strap (d'Origny, 1991), the square H-case Heure H (Jean-Marc Boulé, 1996) and the calligraphic Slim d'Hermès (2015). Our pre-owned Hermès watches catalogue holds 93 authenticated pieces from €340 to €6,078.

Iconic men's references in stock

The catalogue splits into automatic watches (82 pieces — the in-house and Vaucher-powered references) and quartz watches (10 — dress-watch territory and smaller case sizes). The Cape Cod remains the house signature for a dress-casual wrist; the Arceau with its slanted lugs and Italic numerals has become the connoisseur's choice; the Heure H is a graphic statement on the metal bracelet. The Médor with its pyramid studs and the Dressage skeleton complete the male-framed selection.

Movements and case materials

Mid-range Hermès men's watches run on ETA or Sellita-based calibres reworked by La Montre Hermès; the top tier uses Vaucher Manufacture automatics (Hermès owns a stake in Vaucher) and the in-house H1837 and H1912 calibres. Cases come in steel, rose gold, yellow gold and titanium depending on the reference; straps are typically Barenia, alligator Mississippiensis or Swift calf — always cut in Hermès ateliers and stitched by hand. Retail starts around €2,500 for a Cape Cod quartz and climbs past €25,000 for a gold Slim d'Hermès with complication; our pre-owned band sits meaningfully below, 93 pieces averaging €2,038.

Authenticating a pre-owned Hermès watch

Our specialists verify the movement (visible caliber mark, finishing, rotor signature), the case-back engraving with serial and the production year letter (a blind stamp identical in logic to the Hermès bag stamp), the hallmarks on gold models, and the strap — leather type, cut, saddle-stitch tension and matching case metal. We examine the dial print quality, the depth of the applied indexes and the crown Hermès calligraphy. The Heure H on steel bracelet and the Cape Cod Tonneau are the two references most frequently faked.

The full Hermès universe

Pair a watch with the rest of the Hermès men's wardrobe: men's bags (HAC, Sac à Dépêches, Plume) and small leather goods. For unisex-leaning classics on the women's side, the Hermès women's bag catalogue (Birkin, Kelly, Evelyne) and Hermès scarves round out the house vocabulary. Condition mix on watches: 72 Very Good, 14 Good, 5 Excellent, 2 Never Worn.
