Beautiful Hermès scarf titled "Copperies"
P / Summer version 2016 by Francoise de la Perriere Françoise de la Perriere who composed this square at the beginning of the years 1960, installing in a starry circle a collection of "horse breasts" held by chest martingales, leather harness, one end of which passes under the belly of the horse. He does not exist, in French, of the English word horse brass which designates these ornaments ; that's why the word copper was chosen, freely, to name this square. Finely worked rosettes, figurative or abstract represent mermaid, lily flower, heart, horse, naughty dog, interlacing or geometrical vegetation. The existence of these amulets dates back to the Middle Ages, maybe even in antiquity. In Great Britain, they were intended for draft horses that could carry up to ten: one at the front, two behind each ear, three at the shoulders and six to ten at the martingale. So, could the weight of these ornaments reach six or seven pounds.
Very popular with collectors, the object could not escape the expert eye of Émile Hermès, great lover of all that the universe of the horse is full of curiosities.
