Pre-Owned Louis Vuitton Montsouris Backpack | JoliCloset
The Montsouris, named after the Parisian park in the 14th arrondissement, is one of Louis Vuitton's most recognisable backpacks — launched in the mid-90s, discontinued in the 2000s, then reissued by Nicolas Ghesquière in 2020 in an updated silhouette. Montsouris PM, GM, BB
The historical Montsouris PM (28 × 29 × 14 cm) is the most widespread format — oval silhouette, drawcord closure and snap flap. The Montsouris GM (32 × 33 × 16 cm) adds volume for light travel. The Montsouris BB (2020 reissue) proposes a more compact and urban format, no drawcord, simply closed by a magnetic flap. The flat natural Vachetta leather straps are adjustable on all formats.
Vintage 90s vs 2020 reissue
The vintage Montsouris (1995-2010) comes in Monogram canvas with natural Vachetta trim — straps, drawcords, base — patinating honey-gold with use. It has two outer patch pockets plus a zipped pocket. The 2020 reissue by Ghesquière (mainly Montsouris BB) modernises the silhouette: black or cognac dyed leather trim, coloured lining, widened adjustable straps. Pre-owned vs retail pricing
The 2020 Montsouris BB retails above €2,200 in boutique. On JoliCloset, authenticated vintage Montsouris PM start around €700-1,000 in nice condition, GM €850-1,200, and BB reissues €1,200-1,700 in very good shape. Vintage value is driven by 90s nostalgia; the 2020 reissue, by the maison's deliberately limited production.
Authentication
The vintage Montsouris carries a two-letter four-digit date code heat-stamped inside. The 2020 reissue uses an embedded RFID chip. Our experts check the saffron-yellow stitching, the Vachetta strap condition (most fragile element on vintage pieces), the "LOUIS VUITTON Paris made in France" stamp and Monogram alignment at the flap junction.
