Marni Bags Pre-Owned — Trunk, Tropicalia & Leather Totes

Since 1994 Marni has built one of Milan's most distinctive vocabularies. Consuelo Castiglioni made a signature out of colours that shouldn't work together, matte grained leathers paired with rounded metal hardware, and silhouettes halfway between modern object and artefact. Francesco Risso, at the helm since 2016, has pushed volume and palette further without betraying that grammar. The icons worth hunting

The Trunk is the 2010s commercial signature: rigid-framed crossbody with architectural bellows, silver pull-tab, released in saffiano-adjacent calfskin, smooth nappa, bicolour and printed runs. Medium Trunk retails around €1,800 new; pre-owned generally €400–€1,100 depending on leather and condition. The rounded Balloon bucket launched the Risso era. The Tropicalia woven-leather basket stays the summer cult piece. You'll also find the drawstring shopping bag in canvas and the sculptural Museo tote. Materials and palette

Marni works a saffiano-leaning grained calfskin, glossy patent, soft nappa, raffia, cotton canvas and PVC on summer editions. The house's colour identity is the real tell: mustard, burgundy, cobalt, sage — contrast plays you don't find in minimalist luxury. That colour identity matters on the resale side too: rare colourways hold value better than classic blacks.

Pricing and value on the secondary market

Typical Marni depreciation runs 40–55% off retail on common references, with exceptions pushing up on vintage Tropicalia and certain Risso drops. Expect €250–€600 for a Trunk small in good condition, €500–€900 for a large Museo, under €150 for a canvas shopping bag. Signature clutches start under €200.

Authentication on Marni

Every bag is verified by our team: heat-stamped MARNI, interior leather tab with serial, Made in Italy, and on the Trunk a dust bag printed with the repeating logo. Hardware engraving is clean, never approximate. Fakes usually fail on the silver pull-tab stitching and on leather grain quality.
