Hermès Kelly Belt Pre-Owned | JoliCloset

The Kelly belt takes the turn-key clasp from the namesake bag and reworks it as a belt buckle, in polished or brushed metal depending on the edition. Introduced as a fashion accessory in the 1990s and steadily refined since, it has become one of the most-requested Hermès belts on the secondary market, second only to the classic Constance. JoliCloset lists the Hermès Kelly belt alongside 268 Hermès women's belts in stock.

Widths, fit and formats

The Kelly belt comes in four core widths: 13 mm (very thin, sits high on the waist), 24 mm, 32 mm (the most versatile) and 42 mm for the more statement versions. The Kelly 18, recently reintroduced and currently retailing at $1,375 in Epsom, is the most distributed version today. The sliding system and multiple holes allow wear at the waist or on the hips; Kelly buckles are also interchangeable with same-width straps from other Hermès reversible belts, which materially expands resale combinations.

Leathers and finishes

The Kelly belt is mainly produced in Epsom (the most structured, scuff-resistant), Swift (matte, soft hand), Box calf (smooth, glazed, patinas over time) and Togo on wider versions. Exotic alligator and crocodile versions circulate occasionally. The metal buckle is offered in silver, gold tone, ruthenium and the occasional lacquered finish on limited editions. Always cross-check the Hermès colour code stamped near the buckle against the actual hue in photos, and inspect the closure mechanism for cleanliness.

Pre-owned price and value

The Kelly 18 in Epsom retails at $1,375 in 2026 boutiques. Wider versions (32 mm and up) climb fast, and exotic skins can clear $3,500 at retail. On the secondary market, pre-owned Kelly belts in Epsom start around $480 in good condition and reach over $1,400 for exotics or seasonal colours that are hard to find. It is one of the best entry points into Hermès leather goods — the scarcity-to-wear ratio is among the most favourable in the line.

Authentication and what to check

On a genuine Kelly belt, the turn-key mechanism rotates without play and returns with a clean snap. The "H" marking on the buckle and the "HERMÈS PARIS MADE IN FRANCE" embossing on the strap are crisp and burr-free. The colour code and date stamp sit on the reverse of the leather, near the buckle. Our team inspects every belt before listing: holes punched cleanly and in line, no inner cracking on the leather, original buckle screws still in place.
