Pre-Owned Chanel 19 Bag | JoliCloset

The Chanel 19 is the last bag Karl Lagerfeld co-designed before his death in February 2019, finished and released by Virginie Viard for the Fall 2019 collection. Its name layers three references: the 19th collection of the house, Gabrielle Chanel's historic address at 31 rue Cambon, and the year 2019 itself — a handover piece bridging two creative eras at Chanel. That cultural status is why the Chanel 19 has become one of the most traded contemporary bags on the pre-owned market. JoliCloset currently authenticates around 100 Chanel 19 bags, with an average pre-owned price near €2,800 versus €5,900+ for a Small at boutique retail in 2026.

How the Chanel 19 differs from the Classic Flap

At a glance, the Chanel 19 shares DNA with the Timeless Classic Flap, but the proportions have been rethought for a softer, more relaxed silhouette. The diamond quilting is significantly larger and looser — the body slouches and collapses rather than holding a sharp shape. The chunky chain mixes three finishes on the same strap: yellow gold, silver, and ruthenium, broken up by a leather insert. The CC turn-lock is oversized — a signature of Lagerfeld's final collections — and the leather is softer lambskin, goatskin or tweed rather than the structured caviar of the Classic Flap. It's a bag designed to be worn, crushed, and lived in.

Sizes and dimensions

The 19 comes in four core sizes. The Small (26 cm) is the most requested size in resale — an urban everyday format. The Medium (30 cm) is the signature size that best balances the oversized chain against the quilted body. The Large (36 cm) prioritises capacity, while the Maxi pushes the slouchy silhouette further still. A wider family sits around the main flap, including the Wallet on Chain, pouches and clutch variants, plus a full range of small leather goods. Most of our stock lives on the Chanel 19 handbags page.

Leathers, tweed and seasonal editions

The 19 expanded Chanel's material vocabulary: goatskin is grainier and more scratch-resistant, holding its shape well — often the recommended choice for a first purchase. Lambskin is softer and more luminous, but shows wear faster. Collection-specific editions include denim (raw and washed, heavily traded from the 2019–2022 runway drops), tweeds in pink, houndstooth and multicolour, shearling winter editions, metallic silver and gold, and the coveted So Black colourway. On the resale market, pristine tweed and denim pieces command premiums because they were produced in smaller runs.

Retail price, resale value and investment case

As of Spring 2026, the Chanel 19 Small retails at roughly €5,900 and the Large passes €7,500 in boutique — around a 60% increase from its 2019 launch price. On JoliCloset, the same Small in very good condition trades around €2,800 on average, a ~50% saving versus new. The rarest pieces — original 2019 denim, pink tweed editions, metallic So Black — regularly resell above their original boutique price. Because the 19 is the last bag jointly signed by Lagerfeld and Viard, specialists view it as a model whose collector value should continue to strengthen over the coming years.

Authentication and selling

Every Chanel 19 listed on JoliCloset is checked by our in-house experts: evenness of the oversized quilting, correct alternation of the three metals on the chain, rivet quality on the CC clasp, hologram and NFC microchip for the relevant production years, and serial-number consistency with the claimed season. Selling your Chanel 19 through JoliCloset gives your bag direct access to an international audience of Chanel buyers and some of the fastest turnaround times in our catalogue. You may also want to compare with the Boy, the Gabrielle, and the 2.55 Reissue, three other contemporary Chanel bags with strong secondary-market performance.
