Louis Vuitton Cluny Bag

The Cluny, named after the Parisian museum and its Latin Quarter neighbourhood, is one of the most recognisable Louis Vuitton top-handle bags: a rectangular silhouette with short top handles and a thin removable shoulder strap, anchored by a signature brass turn-lock on the front. Built around Epi leather, it carried the maison's bold colour palette through the 2010s and remains a favourite for buyers who want an assertive colour — red, yellow, navy, khaki, powder pink.

Cluny BB, MM, Mini

The Cluny BB (28 × 20 × 10 cm) is the most widespread daily size. The Cluny MM (32 × 22 × 11 cm) adds depth for an A5 format and a pouch. The Cluny Mini (20 × 14 × 8 cm), more recent, plays the evening-bag card. All versions share the LV brass turn-lock, two short top handles and a thin removable adjustable leather shoulder strap.

A new Cluny BB in Epi retails above €2,800 in boutique. On JoliCloset, authenticated examples sit between €800 and €1,400 for BB in very good condition, and €1,200 to €1,800 for recent MM. Cluny Epi in discontinued colours (Citron yellow, Pistache green) gains value on the secondary market.

Authentication

On Cluny bags pre-dating 2021, the two-letter four-digit date code is heat-stamped inside on a leather tab stitched to the lining or on the dyed leather lining. Newer models carry an embedded RFID chip. Our experts check the weight and signature of the LV clasp (engraved "LOUIS VUITTON" and numbered), saddle-stitch regularity, Epi grain and the quality of the thin shoulder strap.
