When Isabel Marant launched the Bobby in 2012, she invented an entire genre: the hidden-wedge sneaker. A low-top in suede and leather, concealed 7 cm heel, side quilting, conventional lacing — it read as a trainer on first glance, stretched the leg like a heel on second. Within a season every high-street label copied the silhouette. Bekett is the evolution of Bobby after the name change; the Bobby itself now exists as a flat sneaker. The Bekett wedge is the original silhouette: star patch or embroidery on the side, concealed side zip on most runs, hidden 6-7 cm wedge. The Étoile Bryce is a flat chunky-sole skater, no wedge, built for the casual half of the Marant wardrobe. The suede low-top in rainbow or tonal colour-blocks belongs to the wider Étoile diffusion line. Colours sit in the Marant neutral palette — stone, beige, black, cream, powder pink, cognac — with occasional metallic gold and silver editions.
