The Louis Vuitton Bellevue belongs to the Monogram Vernis family launched in 1998 by Marc Jacobs. A small leather-handled shoulder bag with a magnetic closure, it shipped in PM and GM sizes before being phased out of the running line. Our catalog gathers pre-owned Bellevue bags authenticated by our experts, in several Vernis colours that are now difficult to source new.

Sizes and Vernis colours

Two main formats. The Bellevue PM (24 × 14 × 8 cm) is the more common, a mini-shoulder size for essentials. The Bellevue GM (28 × 16 × 9 cm) holds slightly more while keeping a compact silhouette. The Vernis range has covered Pomme d'Amour red, Rose Indien, bronze, Amarante beige, black and Indigo, with occasional seasonal limited editions.

Patent Vernis leather

The Monogram Vernis patent leather is calfskin embossed with the monogram and finished with a protective lacquer that creates its signature shine. On the resale market, two points matter: colour, which can transfer or yellow if pressed against other tinted leathers or dark denim, and corner condition (more exposed to pressure marks). The microfibre lining tinted to match the exterior is a useful authenticity reference.

Pricing and value

At retail, the Bellevue PM was priced around $1,500 and the GM around $1,800. Pre-owned today, expect from roughly $400 for a well-loved PM up to $900 for a near-mint piece in a discontinued colour. Rare hues (Pomme d'Amour, Bronze) tend to hold value or appreciate over time.

Authentication and alternatives

Every Bellevue bag is inspected: date code, patent finish and stitching, magnetic closure and lining condition.
