Launched in 2022 by Demna, the Balenciaga Le Cagole is an explicit revival of the Balenciaga City originally designed by Nicolas Ghesquière in 2001. Its name — Marseille slang for a flashy, unapologetically glamorous woman — sets the tone: the slouchy hobo silhouette, mirror studs, wrapped double handle, hanging pocket mirror and leather-tasselled key holder all come back in maximalist form, in glossier leathers and saturated colours. Sizes and variants

The Cagole is produced in five sizes: XS (the most resold, a clutch-with-strap), Mini, Small (the everyday size), Medium and Large (worn over the shoulder, rarer second-hand). The XS and Small drive most of the second-hand demand.

Signature leathers and colours

The patinated Arena calfskin — a modern reread of Ghesquière's washed lambskin — remains the benchmark. Balenciaga also produces the Cagole in Shiny patent leather, suede, embossed lizard, and capsule editions in rhinestones, denim or print. The most sought-after colours are black, fuchsia, pastel light-pink and acid green — the signature tones of Demna's first campaigns for the model.
