The Bottega Veneta Cassette is Daniel Lee's other manifesto bag, unveiled in 2019 alongside the Pouch and the Arco. The British designer took the historic intrecciato introduced in 1966 by Vittorio and Laura Moltedo, tripled the width of the leather strips and padded each weave to create a previously-unseen three-dimensional quilted leather. Sizes, shapes and variants

The Cassette comes in four main formats: the Mini top-handle or chain-strap crossbody (roughly 19 × 14 cm), the Padded Cassette with its dramatically puffed weave (26 × 14 cm), the classic Medium (27 × 18 cm) and the everyday XL Tote. A full family of small leather goods — wallets, cardholders, pouches — extends the line, all dressed in the same quilted weave. Hardware alternates between a discreet magnetic snap, a fine gold chain and an adjustable leather strap.

Materials and colours

Padded nappa lambskin remains the signature, but you will also find grained calf for a sharper silhouette, velvety suede, shearling for the winter capsules, and exotic editions in python and embossed crocodile. Daniel Lee's original palette — fondant, chalk, caramel, parakeet green, kiwi — has since been expanded by Matthieu Blazy and Louise Trotter, with sought-after shades like verde foresta and the recent indigo blue.

At retail the Cassette runs from around €2,800 (Mini) to €4,500 (XL).
