Founded in Rome in 1884 by Greek silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris, Bulgari — stylised BVLGARI with the Latin V — has built a language of saturated cabochons, architectural gold and Greco-Roman references that no other luxury house has matched. The flagship on Piazza di Spagna, the serpent coiled around Elizabeth Taylor's wrist on the set of Cleopatra, the Colosseum geometry of B.zero1: every piece points back to Rome. Rome since 1884 — house codes

Sotirios Voulgaris arrived from Epirus with a jeweller's eye for bold colour. His sons opened the Via Condotti boutique in 1905; in the 1940s the Serpenti snake and the Tubogas flexible gold tube became Bulgari signatures. 1970s director Gianni Bulgari launched Bulgari Bulgari, the double-logo coin watch. 1999 brought B.zero1, a five-band spiral quoting the Colosseum. In 2000 Bulgari acquired Gerald Genta watchmaking, which fed into the Octo (2012) and the record-breaking Octo Finissimo.

Iconic collections at JoliCloset

The Serpenti motif runs across jewellery, handbags and watches — Tubogas, Viper and scaled variants with mother-of-pearl, malachite or onyx inserts. Materials, metals and stones

Gold is hallmarked 750 (18k) in yellow, rose or white; platinum is marked PT950; sterling silver is 925. Watches combine steel, grade-5 titanium, ceramic and precious metals; Octo Finissimo in titanium is instantly recognisable by its satin-brushed integrated bracelet. Stone inserts include diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, mother-of-pearl, malachite, onyx and lapis. Bags are cut in calfskin, karung and — on rarer references — python with the signature snake-head clasp in enamel and brass.

Every Bulgari piece is inspected in our Paris atelier. We check the BVLGARI engraving (always Latin V, never U), the metal hallmark and Italian maker's mark, the unique reference number tied to Roman registration, the serial number on watches and the Swiss Made stamp on the movement. Stones are cross-checked against catalogue references, clasps are weight-tested (Serpenti snake head is noticeably heavy), and enamel regularity is verified on Serpenti and Divas' Dream.
