The Saint Laurent Niki bag launched in 2018 under Anthony Vaccarello, creative director of the house since 2016, and takes its name from Niki de Saint Phalle, the free-spirited sculptor close to Yves Saint Laurent's inner circle. It extends the bohemian seventies imagery the founder championed: oversized soft body, irregular chevron quilting, slouchy flap and a long chain strap interwoven with leather. JoliCloset currently lists 29 pre-owned Niki bags, every one authenticated in-house.

Sizes and variants

The Niki comes in three formats — Baby (about 28 × 20 × 8 cm), Medium (about 32 × 23 × 10 cm) and Large (about 35 × 28 × 9 cm) — plus the more rectangular Niki Shopping and the matching chain wallet. The Medium is the most-listed size on the secondary market because it fits an A5 notebook without distorting the flap. All versions share the same chain-and-leather woven shoulder strap.

Leathers and colours

The vintage-effect calfskin — lightly crinkled and pre-patinated from the workshop — is the Niki's signature finish and the one buyers chase. Vaccarello also produced the model in smooth quilted calf, cleaner-looking, and more rarely in velvet or embossed croc. Black, natural beige and light camel concentrate most of the stock; taupe, burgundy and seasonal capsules in deep red, khaki or off-white show up too.

Resale price and value

At retail, the Niki Medium starts above €2,800 in boutique. On JoliCloset, pre-owned Nikis begin around €800 for a regularly worn example and climb past €2,000 for a Medium in vintage leather in excellent condition — typically 30 to 50% below boutique price. The vintage-effect calf, already patinated when new, ages especially well and remains the most decisive resale criterion.

Authentication

Every Niki is inspected before listing: "Saint Laurent Paris — Made in Italy" hot-stamp on the interior tab, six-digit serial code consistent with the production year, even chevron alignment, regular chain weaving and detachable-strap tension.
