In a large portfolio of photos of the Chanel cruise collection of 1997, this dress is on the last page. Karl Lagerfeld himself shot the entire collection for the portfolio and advertising campaign of that year, using only the model Guinevere Van Senus.
Apart from its fascinating history, the dress is gorgeous. It is made of crisp black fabric with a very fine texture of waffle weave. The dress is put on and fastened in front with buttons that overlap each other, and then fastened with a lined row of buttons. Each button has the CC logo engraved on it and it is made in the corresponding black color. The waist is emphasized by vertical seams, so it is emphasized, but not too fitted and not tight. It slides over the hips, and then gently expands, approaching the hem. In the promotional shot, you can see how this allows your leg to be visible when you sit, and to a lesser extent does the same when you walk.
