Pre-Owned Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Bag | JoliCloset

The Dolce & Gabbana Sicily bag was designed in 2009 by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana as a homage to the house's Sicilian roots. Structured boxy silhouette, flat top handle, detachable shoulder strap and gold logo plate on the flap: this is the bag that turned Dolce & Gabbana from a couture name into a global maison, alongside the Miss Sicily that preceded it. Our catalogue currently lists 28 pre-owned Sicily bags, starting from €350.

Sizes and variants

The Sicily comes in four main formats. The Sicily 18 (mini, around 18 cm wide) wears as a thin crossbody for evenings or daytime layering. The Sicily 25 (small, ~25 cm) is the most versatile size. The Sicily 36 (medium, ~26 × 21 × 12 cm) is the original silhouette — it fits A5 and dominates resale demand. The Sicily 44 (large) suits travellers and cabin-bag buyers. The house also released the model as a flat clutch and a tote.

Signature materials and prints

D&G has translated the Sicily across its full visual grammar: grained dauphine leather (the most classic, hard-wearing and forgiving over time), smooth calf, suede, embossed python, Sicilian majolica print, leopard, baroque florals, gold mosaic, lace appliqué, patchwork denim and beaded embroidery. Smooth black and red remain the most-requested colours on the resale market for their versatility; Sicilian prints, lace and Alta Moda editions trade as collector pieces.

Price and value on the resale market

At boutique, a Sicily Medium in dauphine leather currently sells for around €2,200 – €2,800 depending on finishes. On the resale market, you'll find one here from about €350 for a well-worn Medium and up to €1,600+ for a printed version in excellent condition — roughly 30 to 50% below original retail. Majolica-print, lace and embroidered Sicily editions often resell above their plain leather counterparts, since each was limited to a single season.

What our authentication team checks

Every Sicily is inspected before listing: "Dolce & Gabbana" plate centred on the flap (typography and engraving depth), interior hot-stamped "Made in Italy", authenticity card and serial number, seam regularity along the boxy corners (a common wear point), the four metal base studs, lining condition and the magnetic clasp action.
