UnavailableVintage Gianni Versace Sunglasses — Medusa, Baroque | JoliCloset
Gianni Versace sunglasses from the 1978-1997 era have become one of the house's most sought-after archive segments — worn by Naomi, Linda and Christy when first released, rediscovered by Bella Hadid and Rihanna thirty years on. JoliCloset lists an authenticated vintage selection, signed Gianni Versace with a "Mod." reference and serial number engraved on the temple.
Key archive silhouettes
The Versace eyewear identity of the 1990s rests on a few signature forms: oversized black or tortoise acetate frames with a gold Medusa on the temple, aviators with a Greca logo across the bridge, couture cat-eye shapes, round and hexagonal frames pavé-set with crystals. Mod. S71, Mod. 414 and Mod. 480 references rank among the most collected. For the rest of the brand's archive accessories, browse the Gianni Versace women's accessories.
Authenticating Gianni-era frames
Several precise markers: the inner temple is engraved "Gianni Versace" (a plain "Versace" engraving signals post-1997 production), a 3- or 4-digit Mod. reference, the Medusa logo in relief on the outer temple, and "Made in Italy" engraved. The Medusa pavé and the gold Greca ornaments must be sharp, with no flash. Original lenses often carry a small "Versace" mark at the bottom-right. Our team checks every pair before listing — pieces without a signed temple are rejected.
