Born in 1947 in Gucci's Florentine workshops, the Bamboo bag is one of the few luxury pieces conceived out of necessity: with leather rationed in post-war Italy, Gucci's artisans heat-bent bamboo for the handle, and the workaround became a signature. The Bamboo 1947 is the headline silhouette today — a structured trapezoidal top-handle bag with twin bamboo handles, a turn-lock closure and a detachable shoulder strap, available in mini, small, medium and large. Leathers and condition

The body comes in smooth calfskin, suede, grained leather, ostrich or python depending on the season.
