This square "coaching" is composed of different elements involved in the horse's harness. It illustrates the first activity of Hermes, "harnacheur-bridier" and the world of the elegant carriage in which the House has been illustrated. This is the reissue of a square of 1977, the bottom is composed of a blanket lined with a wide woolen strip.
In the upper left right corners, the blankets that are thrown on the horses after the exercise or the race, to avoid their cooling. In the seventeenth century, the Coaches were imposing vehicles, sort of diligences conducted by coachmen, who carried passengers and luggage. Around 1784 came the English postal cars, the Mail Coaches which disappeared around 1848, with the advent of the railway. During the Golden Age of the Coaches, a keen taste for the art of driving a team of four horses, manifested itself in the entourage of the Prince of Wales, future King George IV.
From the early nineteenth century, the young aristocracy created very closed clubs for this practice and were built for private use careful replicas of these cars: the Private Coaches or Drags were born, serving mainly to parade to all the social gatherings. But the practice of this extraordinary sport has long been perpetuated because it requires the mastery of four horses at the same time. To direct, the driver has at his disposal only long reins, without benefit of the action of his legs, as the rider. For this sport, the horses are hitched to stretchers, with collar harnesses consisting of bridles, collars, cinches, car seats, reins and brake nets.
