Scarves dominate the section (2,130 pieces) — Brides de Gala by Hugo Grygkar, Casaques by Vladimir Rybaltchenko, Della Cavalleria, Quadrige, Le Voyage de Pythagore. The 90 cm silk carré (641 pieces) is the archetype. Beyond that, the section runs 268 belts (H buckle, Constance, Kelly), 215 hats, 121 pairs of gloves and 53 phone charms — Twilly, Rodéo Touch and charms.

The Hermès carré — Lyon craft

An Hermès carré begins with a commissioned drawing, photo-engraved over 6 months to 2 years, then screen-printed onto natural silk twill (around 75 g, 90×90 cm) in the Pierre-Bénite atelier. A single design can pull from a palette of 36 colors and 30 silk thread shades. The hand-rolled hem signs the object — a detail every authentication checks. The secondary market is where discontinued prints, anniversary editions and vintage carrés (often more coveted than current re-issues) live.

Authentication and buying

Our team checks each carré's hem, twill thread direction, artist signature, design title and ©HERMÈS mark. For belts, the buckle hallmark, leather tanning and saddle stitch get inspected. On bracelets and enameled accessories, enamel depth and the Hermès Paris stamp authenticate the piece. To go further, browse our Hermès bags and Hermès jewelry.
