Square "Downwind"

VINTAGE square in 100% silk twill, hand-rolled (90 x 90 cm)
Color: green
Silk is crisp and shiny (silk is thicker than the new squares)
Designed by Yannick Manier in 1992
Square purchased at Hermès staff sales, "S" on the scarf on the reverse side and barely visible located at the level of the green buoy, a very slight printing defect of light pink color to report at the level of the sail of the small sailboat

NEW NEVER WORN
Here it is a sailboat from the 1930s with a gaff rig. It runs alternately downwind (downwind), on a broad reach (approaching the wind abeam), then close-hauled (until it is "head to wind"). Finally, it lets the wind carry it, meaning it goes back towards the downwind courses. In the navy as in craftsmanship, the most technical term is always the most beautiful, because it is the most meaningful.
