Beautiful shawl (or giant square) collection TITRÉ "Persian carpets" 140 x 140 cm 100% Silk Feather, created by Pierre-Marie in 2014. The history of Persian rugs dates back several thousand years, it begins, no doubt, with the nomadic peoples of the steppes of Central Asia. These knotted carpets were intended to protect them from the cold and served as partitions in the tents. The oldest carpet that has come down to us, the famous Pazyryk carpet of Altai (4th century BC), already bears witness to the aesthetic concern of its creators. The secrets of their manufacture have passed down from generation to generation. Each motif designates its geographical origin. From the thirteenth century, Europe loves it. They become table mats, chest, wall hangings. Some models will be named after the painters who take them for models, as well as so-called Lotto carpets (Lorenzo Lotto, 1480-1556), carpets of wool with a red background and arabesque decoration. The center of this square is a good example, inspired by a prayer rug from northern India. It was the Mughal Empire that brought a Persian influence to India, particularly in the form of a naturalism marked by great finesse. Many decorations are added to this one, making this square the sumptuous evocation of the refinement and diversity of these ornaments. The designer was inspired by these carpets but also very beautiful Indian archives of the Museum of Printing on Fabrics of Mulhouse.
