The silk producer, responsible for raising silkworms and supplying the prestigious silk houses of Lyon, Tours, and Saint-Étienne, has not always been able to meet demand. For centuries, Europeans have turned toward Asia, the birthplace of the mulberry tree and the source of the highly coveted silk thread. Ships have sunk, caravans have lost their way along the journey. Yet, relentlessly, people continued along the Silk Road, driven by a destiny as radiant as a precious fabric.
