"Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night" Écolière, Alice Shirley was learning the poem The Tyger, written in 1794 by William Blake. Painter and English poet precursor of Romanticism, he was born in London in 1757 and died there in 1827.
Poetry has the power to print for all life in the hearts of children and the young woman, become a talent illustrator, gives us a very tender portrait. Under a sky filled with stars, his tiger, a majestic sweetness, rests on a bed of flowers. Animal World Specialist, she regularly collaborates with the London Museum of Natural History. It's here, in the museum library, that she discovered a magnificent collection of botanical illustrations commissioned by the Compagnie des indes orientales. She found the plants of the Periyar Tiger Reserve, in Kerala in India, and inspired to represent the feline in his natural universe.
It is presented here on an elegant blue background. A wonder !
