The first Hermès store opens in 1880 AU 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in Paris, in a modest-sized house which also houses the saddlery workshops and a private space. The current neoclassical facade is the result of daring work, led by 1924 to 1926, which gave the building new floors and a surprising terrace. It is from this terrace that the exuberant tropical forest seems to surge, drawn with four hands by Octave Marsal and Théo de Gueltzl.. Cheetahs, monkeys and cockatoos merge with the flora of this canopy, where an unexpected rider is mischievously hiding: the artificer on horseback has left the pinnacle of the Faubourg Saint-Honoré to reach the jungle.
