Pre-Owned Louis Vuitton Tivoli Bag | JoliCloset

The Tivoli is a hobo handbag introduced by Louis Vuitton in 2008 and discontinued a few years later, which makes it a true vintage piece today. Its curved silhouette, rounder at the ends than in the centre, braided Vachetta leather handles and brass press-clasp earned it the status of a discreet classic — now only available pre-owned.

Tivoli PM, Tivoli GM

The Tivoli PM (37 × 26 × 16 cm) is the more common size: it fits an A5 file and wears in the hand or in the crook of the arm. The Tivoli GM (45 × 27 × 18 cm) adds a gusset for a busier day. Both versions were produced exclusively in Monogram canvas — no Damier, no Empreinte. A removable shoulder strap was available as a separate accessory at some retailers.

Why the Tivoli stays in demand

The Tivoli's rarity comes from its short production window (around 2008-2014) and its particularly distinctive silhouette: the braided saddle-stitch handles are unique in the Louis Vuitton catalogue of that era. Compared with the Speedy or the Galliera (another discontinued hobo), the Tivoli has a more pronounced structure and a wider opening. On JoliCloset, authenticated examples sit between €600 and €1,100 depending on Vachetta condition.

Condition, Vachetta and patina

As with all Monogram bags featuring untreated Vachetta handles, the natural leather condition drives price. On a Tivoli, two points deserve attention: the braided handles (the weave can loosen over time) and the base, which darkens or stains faster than on a flat Speedy. A uniform honey patina remains highly desirable. The Monogram canvas itself ages remarkably well.

Authentication

Since the Tivoli is a pre-2021 model, its two-letter four-digit date code is heat-stamped inside — either on a leather tab stitched to the lining or on the upper part of the lining itself. Our experts verify the saffron-yellow stitching, Monogram alignment, the leather of the braided handles and the "LOUIS VUITTON Paris made in France" stamp on the brass plaque.
