The narrow Cassandre (20 mm) dominates the selection — in smooth or grained calfskin in black, navy, burgundy or cream, with a cast brass buckle in gold or silver tone. The wide Cassandre (30 mm) is built for jeans and a bolder silhouette. Authenticating a Saint Laurent belt

Our experts check the cast YSL buckle (always solid, with clean edges, no mould flashing), the "Saint Laurent Paris — Made in Italy" engraving on the inside strap (pieces before 2012 read "Yves Saint Laurent", fully authentic for archival lots), reinforced eyelets that are stitched rather than punched, and consistent leather grain. A genuine Cassandre buckle has real weight in the hand and its edges are never rounded by mould wear.
