Pre-Owned Ferragamo Bags: Gancini, Sofia, Vara | JoliCloset
Founded in Florence in 1927 by Salvatore Ferragamo — the shoemaker to Hollywood who dressed Monroe, Garbo and Hepburn — the house extended its vocabulary into leather goods at the end of the 1960s with the Gancini clasp. Since the 2022 rebrand led by Maximilian Davis, the bags are signed simply "Ferragamo". Our catalogue holds 4,389 authenticated pre-owned Ferragamo bags, from €35 for small leather goods to €2,929 for the most sought-after archive pieces, with an average around €347.
The icons: Gancini, Sofia, Vara, Trifolio, Hug
The Gancini line alone accounts for 1,871 pieces — shoulder bags, trapeze shapes and totes built around the horseshoe hook. The Sofia, a rigid top-handle trapeze named after Sofia Coppola's niece, and the Trifolio quilted chain flap bring structure to an Italian wardrobe. The Hug crescent launched under Davis defines the current generation; the Vara grosgrain bow also crosses over onto several small leather pieces.
Subcategory breakdown
Handbags form the majority (3,347 pieces), ahead of totes (564), purses, wallets and cases (186), backpacks (104) and clutch bags (64). Materials span smooth grained calfskin, suede, Gancini jacquard canvas, lizard-embossed leather and seasonal patent finishes.
Authentication and condition
Every bag is checked by our experts before it goes live: hardware alloy and engraving on the Gancini clasp, heat stamp reading "Salvatore Ferragamo Made in Italy" (or "Ferragamo" post-2022), internal serial code, saddle-stitch density and lining behaviour. Current condition mix: 2,067 good, 1,587 correct, 567 very good, 141 excellent and 27 never worn — enough spread to target exactly the budget and use case you have in mind. Complete the wardrobe with Ferragamo women's shoes.
