The Dior Caro bag was launched in 2020 by Maria Grazia Chiuri and takes its nickname from Catherine Dior, Christian's younger sister — Resistance fighter, Ravensbrück survivor and florist — who inspired the couturier to name the Miss Dior perfume after her in 1947. The bag honours that intimate legacy through a quilted macrocannage calfskin flap with pronounced diamonds, a twisted CD clasp directly drawn from the seal of a Dior perfume bottle, and a leather-interlaced chain that allows shoulder, crossbody or hand carry. Sizes and variants

The Caro is produced in four main sizes: Micro, Mini (a wallet-on-chain variant), Small (around 20 × 12 × 7 cm), Medium (25 × 15 × 8 cm) and Large (28 × 17 × 9 cm). The quilting comes in the classic cannage and the wider, more contemporary macrocannage, now the line's defining signature. The chain is detachable, allowing the bag to be carried by its inner leather handle.

Leathers and colours

The Caro is crafted in Italy. The signature material is smooth supple calfskin quilted in cannage, which develops a soft patina over time. The line also includes grained calf, velvet lambskin, satin calf, midnight or beige Oblique canvas and, more rarely, hand-painted leather editions. Most sought-after colours remain black, latte, nude pink and denim blue; jade green, passion red and caramel capsule editions move quickly.

Retail and pre-owned value

At boutique, a new Caro Medium in cannage calfskin sits today between €4,300 and €5,000 depending on the material. On the authenticated pre-owned market, Micro and Mini start around €800-1,000, Small trades between €1,800 and €2,600 and Medium in good condition between €2,200 and €3,200 — a 30 to 45% saving versus retail. Classic colours (black, latte) hold their value especially well.

Every Caro is verified before listing: authenticity card, hot-stamped atelier code on the inner tab, Christian Dior Paris Made in Italy engraving on the back of the twisted CD clasp, symmetry and tension of the cannage quilting (diamonds must be perfectly regular), tension of the interlaced chain and alignment of the CD charm are all checked.
