The Bottega Veneta Knot is the maison's signature evening minaudière, designed by Tomas Maier in the early 2000s and reinterpreted every season since. Its name comes from the sculpted knot clasp — in gilded or silver metal, sometimes set with semi-precious stones — that closes a small rigid shell built for evening wear. Shapes and variants

The Knot comes in two main silhouettes: the rigid minaudière in a compact format (around 20 × 12 cm), carried in the hand or on a thin chain tucked inside, and the softer flat clutch, more discreet. A handful of long-chain editions are worn cross-body for evening, and rarer wristlet-strap versions remain highly collectible. The knot clasp at the centre of the design can be solid metal, leather-wrapped or crystal-set depending on the edition.

Materials and colours

Hand-woven intrecciato from Vicenza remains the signature, but the Knot also exists in smooth lambskin, velvet, silk satin, metallic nappa and python. Silk editions lean into the model's evening DNA; smooth-leather versions show the purest architecture of the clasp. Colour-wise, look for black, silver, gold, deep burgundy, forest green, nude, plus the limited editions with embellished clasps.

Pricing and resale value

At retail, a Knot ranges from €2,200 for smooth-leather editions to over €6,000 for jewelled or exotic minaudières. On JoliCloset, pre-owned prices start at around €380 for a flat clutch in good condition and reach €2,800 for a gem-set minaudière — typically 30 to 50% below boutique depending on condition and rarity. Crystal-set and python editions hold their value especially well.

Authentication and confident buying

Every Knot is reviewed before listing: embossed "Bottega Veneta / Made in Italy" stamp inside, serial number, regularity of the intrecciato weave, action of the knot clasp (the movement must be firm with no play), interior studs and the state of the silk lining are all checked.
