Unveiled by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana at the Fall 2019 Milan show, the Devotion bag draws directly from the Sicilian-Catholic iconography that defines the house — a crowned, gilded Sacred Heart sitting dead-centre on a diamond-quilted body. It is the anti-logo Dolce bag: no monogram, just a devotional emblem in cast metal, recognisable from across a room. Five authenticated pieces are currently listed on JoliCloset, where the Medium retails new around $1,995 and tends to trade pre-owned between $850 and $1,500 depending on colour and condition.

Sizes and variants

The Devotion comes in four formats. The Mini crossbody (around 17 × 10 cm) wears on the shoulder or across the body on its chain-and-leather strap. The Small and Medium top-handles follow a structured satchel line with removable shoulder strap. The Belt Bag rounds out the family, worn at the waist or cross-body. The heart comes in bright gold on the classic line and in silver on the black-line editions.

Materials and colours

The signature build is matelassé nappa lambskin — supple, hand-stitched diamond quilting, DG-engraved feet. Dolce also produces the bag in smooth calf, patent, houndstooth tweed, knitted crochet, pony hair and clear plexiglass for summer capsules. Beyond the signature black and red, the Devotion appears in powder pink, lilac, metallic gold, Sicilian green and flocked leopard — all colours that hold their resale value well.

Authentication and the D&G vs Dolce & Gabbana tell

One dating shortcut: the house discontinued the "D&G" diffusion line in 2012. Any piece made after 2012 therefore reads "Dolce & Gabbana" in full on the interior leather and on the metal plaque. Because the Devotion was launched in 2019, every authentic piece is stamped "Dolce & Gabbana Made in Italy" with a serial number on an interior leather tab. Our experts check the DG engraving on the feet, the alignment of the diamond quilting, the rivet work holding the heart and the interior lining — usually in contrasting smooth calf.
